John Austen

MaleJohn Austen was a photographer in Oswego, and relocated to Syracuse about 1872. He advertised "Those splendid German Pictures a specialty." He was attending a strawberry festival at a local church on June 23, 1874, when a second story floor collapsed. Both first and second story were fully occupied, and Austen was among the 13 who were crushed to death. His wife and daughter were injured.
