Alexander Clark Brownell was a photographer in New Bedford, Boston and Fall River, Massachusetts in the 1860s and early 1870s. He partnered in several studios, including Brownell & Graham, Brownell & Cahill, and Brownell & Adams. By 1873 he had established himself in Providence, Rhode Island. He died in New York City on January 14, 1916. The Boston Globe noted that while experimenting with zinc etching plates some 30 years prior, he had poisoned himself and never fully recovered.
