In 1873 it was noted that Buchtel & Stolte had provided photographs of the funeral of Gen. Edward Canby which were reproduced in Harper's and Leslie's magazines. In January, 1879 it was announced that the partnership was dissolved, and that Buchtel was continuing the studio alone.
