Robert Benecke
American, 1835-1903
MaleIn a death notice in Wilson's Photographic Magazine, it was noted that Robert Benecke had learned daguerreotypy before his arrival in the United States in 1854. He practiced photography in Tennessee before settling in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he opened Hoelke & Benecke. He was an early adopter of the dry plate process, and eventually became superintendant of the Cramer Dry Plate Works.
