In 1879, Edward S. Elmer bought out his partner in the studio of Howard & Tenney, and joined with Charles A. Tenney as Elmer & Tenney. An 1883 business profile noted that they employed eight, and had sold over 25,000 snow views from the "exceptional winter of 1880-1". The studio operated at least into 1887.
