Friedgen & Donner opened their Columbus, Indiana studio sometime in May or June, 1872. In November and December they added an addition to their building "in order to enable them to increase their business. However, by February, 1873 Snyder & Donner's Picture Gallery advertised the "recent enlargement of our Gallery." Snyder & Donner continued through June, when R. W. Snyder sold his interest to George H. Friedgen. They advertised a specialty in Rembrandt photos and "porcelain pictures of all sizes, also make them on watch dials." Friedgen & Donner continued into 1880; by 1882 Friedgen had a gallery alone. The identity of Donner was not found, though it is possible that it was the jeweller Frederick Donner.
