Frederick A. Taylor operated a stationery and book store in Saint Paul, Minnesota by 1873. The shop included a photograph gallery which was sold to C. J. Huntington in August, 1873. In 1874 he expanded and renovated, adding a plate glass facade with attracted much attention. He operated a circulating library from the second floor of the shop. But in February, 1875, the business failed and he filed for bankruptcy.
