John W. Storrs was a newspaper man in Birmingham, Connecticut in the 1850s, supplementing his income with a photography studio. In 1868 he was issued a patent for an improvement in stereoscopes. He wrote patriotic poems commemorating the Civil War, and late in life published a history of the 20th Connecticut Regiment, in which he had served.
