Frank Kuykendall was a partner in Kuykendall & Whitney, a partnership in Ouray, Colorado in the 1880s. Though Whitney's identity is not certain, the Junction City (Kansas) Tribune notes in 1884: "We have received a handfull of Rocky mountain views, from Kuykendall & Whitney, photographers, Ouray, Colorado. They are beautiful and perfect as works of art, and interesting subjects of study. All the old settlers here remember with pleasure Uncle Dick Whitney. The Tribune highly appreciates his kindly tokens of remembrance." There was a Richard C. Whitney in Junction City in 1870. He was a sheriff, born 1820 in Ohio.
