Platt D. Babbitt
American, 1822-1879
MalePlatt D. Babbitt is believed to be the first resident photographer in Niagara Falls, New York, and capitalized on the growing interest in that town as a tourist destination. His early success waned and he withdrew from photography by the 1870s. He committed suicide by drowning in 1879.
