William Senter, Sr.

MaleWilliam Senter was a partner of Lowell & Senter, manufacturers and dealers of watches, surveying instruments and jewelry in Portland, Maine as early as 1836. Senter was in business for himself from 1870-1875 before partnering with his son. The shop evidently also distributed stereoscopic views of local scenery, based on stamps in the collection of the New York Public Library. Senter was mayor of Portland from 1880 to 1882 and died there December 22, 1888.
