After the dissolution of the Floyd & Power studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota in November, 1879, George W. Floyd announced the opening of Floyd's Studio. In May, 1888, Mrs. E. B. Floyed offered the business for sale, owing to illness. The studio initially stayed in the family, managed by Lou S. Floyd after George Floyd's death on August 21, 1889 at age 47. The following year it was managed by George W. Clague, before being bought out by A. R. Cottrell in September, 1891.
