In 1901, McLaughlin & Co. of New York submitted for copyright a number of photographs of street views throughout the United States. Some of those photographs were transferred from the Copyright Office to the New York Public Library's Picture Collection, and were eventually transferred to the Photography Collection. In 1901 and years before and after, there are a couple of companies which may be McLaughlin & Co.. One was a mortgage broker and the other a jeweller.
