R. S. Henderson & Co.
American, active 1860s
No Gender (Business or Collective)R. S. Henderson contributed "six beautiful photographs, framed" to a Soldier's Fair in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in September, 1866. The following month, a notice in the Altoona Tribune headlined "A New Enterprise" describes a series of views taken by R. S. Henderson & Co. along the Pennsylvania Railroad. It is unclear whether the "New Enterprise" refers to the series, or to the company, itself. That month the company advertised for canvassers and agents to sell the views. In October of the following year, C. S. Roshon was advertising as successor to both Henderson and to Burnite & Weldon, having 15,000 negatives on hand, "many of which are of soldiers who now sleep beneath the sod." Other ads for Roshon tout the Railroad views. Roshon's address, 424 Market Street, was that of Henderson's studio.
