In the 1850s, Nehemiah S. Leeman was a confectioner in Bangor, Maine. He was an ambrotypist in Calais by 1860, before moving to Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1866. He continued photography there for a decade before returning to confectionery around 1878, which he practiced until his death of pneumonia in 1882.
