View raw data

Gregory Dobkin was born in Russia and arrived in the US from France in 1904 with siblings Gertrude and William. All three were (or would become) photographers. In 1908 he was a jeweler, before partnering with his brother as Dobkin Bros. in 1910. After William opened his own studio in 1912, Gregory Dobkin continued at the same address until at least 1918. In 1921 he was a photographer for the Flett Studio on the boardwalk of Atlantic City. He took over that studio the following year, and continued with boardwalk studios into the 1950s. The G. Dobkin who continued at the Dobkin Bros. address could be either Gregory or Gertrude.
