Max Apisdorf arrived in the US in 1912 from his native Austria. In 1915 he took over the studio previously run by Moritz (or Meyer) Apisdorf, whose relation to Max is not clear. In 1922 he was advertising "Burnt in Porcelain Pictures, Everlasting, Weatherproof". He continued in the business at least into the 1940s.
