An avid amateur photographer, Robert Chamberlain William Lett worked for the Canadian National Railways in the 1910s-1930s. During an expedition in 1931, he snapped an image of a colleague silhouetted against hillside and clouds. The image was among the winners of the Kodak International $100,000 Competition that year. His wife, Helena, was the daughter of photographer WIlliam Topley.
