View raw data

Nephi Bell was listed as an ambrotypist for Turner & Co. in Washington, DC in 1860. He was the son of Francis Hamilton Bell, and brother of William H., Thomas H., James E. and Charles Milton Bell, all of whom would practice photography. At that time, the father and eldest brother were in the gun and locksmith business. By 1862 he had partnered with Thomas H. Bell as Bell and Bro., and likely employed his brother William and possibly his father. The circumstances of his early death in November of that year are not known. He was just nineteen years old.
