Orin Ackerman
American, 1829-1913
MaleOrin Ackerman (sometimes spelled Orrin), was born in New York in 1829 and was a photographer in the town of Hermon by 1862. The following year, according to his draft registration, he was a daguerrian in Pitcairn. Palmquist and Kailbourn identify him in Independence, IA from 1864 to 1866. In 1871, he patented an impoprovement on a mechanism to support and control the pitch of a camera box. He was in Carthage, New York. In 1875, he was in Boonville, presumably partnered with an unidentified brother as Ackerman Bros. By 1880 he was retired from photography and was a farmer in Pittsfield, MA, where he died in 1913.
