This Richard Kimball was the son of William H. Kimball, listed on the 1850 census as an Artist. It is possible that this Richard H. Kimball is a cousin of Richard Hazen Kimball (born 1869). His Civil War Draft Registration remarks he is "deformed". In 1865, he married and moved to Manhattan, KS where he appears as a farmer into the 1910s. Palmquist & Kailbourn list a R. H. Kimball as a photographer in Leavenworth, KS in 1865, most likely the same man.
