MaleGeorge O. Brown, believed to have been born enslaved, was a photographer in Richmond, Virginia by 1872. He was a printer in George W. Davis' studio by 1879 and throughout the1890s. He opened his own studio there in 1899. The family continued to operate the studio into the 1970s.
