In 1898 eviction proceedings were begun against Fannie Matson for four rooms in 6 Turk Street. She refused to leave, and when the building was sold and the rooms rented, she and her studio were forcibly removed. Matson filed a complaint and four people were arrested for forcible entry; later a warrant was issued for her arrest on perjury charges, as two of the four were not present at her removal. She is listed as a photographer with a residencial address only until 1903.
