Barnett's Metropolitan Photograph Gallery
American, active 1860s-1870s
No Gender (Business or Collective)Barnett's Metropolitan Photograph Gallery was a partnership of John Barnett and George W. Barnett. In 1860 they advertised as manufacturers of jewel, miniature, surgical, and morrocco cases. "Rosewood and mahogany desks, of the finest quality; together with jewellers' trays and sample cards, made on shortest notice. Daguerreotype cases at wholesale and retail." In 1862 they advertised as "Manufacturer, importer, & dealer in all kinds of Daguerreotype, Ambrotype, and photographic apparatus and materials." John Barnett took over his father Frederick's case making business. In the 1870s George W. Barnett was listed as a dealer in photographic materials at the same Broadway address. By 1881, George's business moved to a separate address (2 New Chambers St.).
