Holton & Robinson was a partnership of Eugene A. Holton and Augustus Ariel Robinson in Boston, Massachusetts by 1868. Beginning in 1874, Holton listed a personal business address at 8 Summer Street in addition to the partnership at 2 Winter Street. By 1876 he employed the photographer Thomas E. Marr, who had worked for Holton & Robinson in 1874 and 1875. In June, 1881 Marr suddenly disappeared with money from the business. It was learned that he had been taking orders, and money, from customers without recording the transactions. He had fled to his native Nova Scotia, but on returning in September for his wife and child, was discovered and arrested. In October, 1881 Marr was indicted of four counts of embezzelment, ammounting to $220.Holton & Robinson had dissolved the partnership by 1882.
