Stephen Fellows Adams
American, 1844-1927
MaleStephen Fellows Adams was a photographer and publisher in New Bedford and Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. He had been an employee of the Bierstadt Bros., and bought out their New Bedford studio in 1867. He opened a branch in Oak Bluffs which likely did a summer season for vacationers on Martha's Vineyard. While there he took a portrait of the noted eccentric Nancy Luce, whose only love was for her hens. By 1880 he was a dry goods merchant. Many sources give an erroneous death date of 1876; he lived until 1927.
