Charles Johnathan Huntington arrived in Olympia, Washington in 1876 after studying in Burlington, Vermont. His father was a prominent minister there. Charles photographed throughout Washington Territory, and the views were published by Huntington Bros., a partnership with at least one of one of his four brothers. The partnership was ended when Charles dropped dead unexpectedly in November, 1878 while photographing in La Connor, Washington.
