View raw data

Charles Allgeier was born in Astoria, New York and was a photographer in Brooklyn in the first half of the 1880s. He appeared in Chicago as a photographer intermittently between 1885 and 1889, and was a driver there in 1890. It is possible that it is during this time he briefly had a studio at 435 East Division Street. New York Public Library has stereo views stamped with this address, though it is not found in directories. In 1891 he partnered with John Birtwistle as Allgeier & Birtwistle. By 1909 he was a post office clerk. He lived to be counted in the 1940 census, though his death date was not found.
