(The elder) Samuel Broadbent left the partnership of Broadbent & Phillips around 1877 to join with W. Curtis Taylor. (Broadbent's son Robert C. Broadbent took over his share in Broadbent & Phillips after his departure). Samuel Broadbent died in 1880. From 1881-1882, the firm is listed as a partnership of the estate of Samuel Broadbent & W. Curtis Taylor. In 1882 it shared the 914 Chestnut address with Broadbent & Co., a short-lived partnership of Broadbent's sons Robert C. & Samuel W. Broadbent. In 1883 Robert took over his father's place in the partnership.
