Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1952, Barrado grew up in Florida duirng the 1960s. As a result, space exploration became an important motif in her photography. Her photographs are taken with a wide-angel lens and infrared film, imbuing them with an eerie science-fiction-like appearance. Barrado studied photography at the San Francisco Art Institute and the University of Florida in Gainsville. Her photographs are in collections at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, and many others. [EC]
